Assumption College of Worcester has named Matthew J. O'Connor as director of continuing and career education.
In his new position, O'Connor is responsible for the division's degree and certificate programs, as well as its community and business programs.
Before heading to Assumption, O'Connor worked for eight years at Massachusetts Bay Community College, most recently as dean of community and corporate education. He has also taught as an adjunct instructor at MBCC and Middlesex and Bunker Hill Community Colleges.
O'Connor has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and a master's degree in engineering management from Western New England College. Before he began working in higher education he was an engineer at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire and then at Fitchburg Gas and Electric Light Co.
