After 46 years of owning and operating The Post Office Pub in North Grafton, Edward Whiterell has decided to retire and sell the restaurant to new ownership.
“I want to thank the many customers who have come out continuously to support this establishment, especially those familiar faces who come in week after week. I also want to thank my staff who have helped build this business over the years, I could not have succeeded without you,” Whiterell said in his Facebook post on Tuesday.
The transfer of the alcoholic beverages license from The Post Office Pub to Massachusetts-based Helia Group was approved on March 4 by the Grafton Select Board, as well as the re-issue of the 2025 common victualler license and indoor music license, according to The Community Advocate.
Helia Group is registered to Parasuarm Kapri and Srinivas Vudutha and lists 7 Ray St. as the corporation’s address, according to filings with the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth.
The Post Office Pub located off Route 140 at 1 Ray St. was once the location of a former post office. The restaurant is decorated in post office-related memorabilia. The post office was developed into a pub in 1979, according to OpenTable.
