Route 9 Shuttle Takes Inaugural Run

State and local leaders including State Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, were all aboard March 11 for the debut commuter shuttle bus for the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority’s first connection between points along Route 9 and the MBTA’s Woodland Station in Newton on the Green Line.

“This is a huge day for us,” said Ed Carr, administrator of the MWRTA. “This is a long sought after connection.” The shuttle will help commuters living in Boston and its outer suburbs reach employers like Staples in Framingham.

The MWRTA received $400,000 for five new shuttle buses and $350,000 for a year’s operating expenses from the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Commission.
