Saint-Gobain, the French construction supply manufacturer with significant operations in Worcester, announced the sale of its ceramics division to Colorado's CoorsTek $245 million.
The company's ceramics division had about $166 million in revenues in 2009 with sites in 14 locations acress America, Europe and Asia. The division makes a variety of ceramic components including electro-ceramic parts for appliances, ceramic balls for high-performance bearings and components for the semiconductor industry, among other functions.
Saint-Gobain accepted CoorsTek's offer to purchase the division. CoorsTek specializes in advanced technical ceramic manufacturing from its Golden, Col. headquarters.
Saint-Gobain has more than 200,000 employees internationally and revenues of more than $64 billion. Last year, the company employed about 1,890 employees in Central Massachusetts.
