Scuffle At Flexcon Lands Man In Court

The son of Spencer-based Flexcon's CEO was arrested at company headquarters Friday after he allegedly smashed glass, stole documents and assaulted a police officer.

Ryan McDonough, 25, of 359 Rawson St. in Leicester, was arraigned Tuesday in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield on charges of wanton destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, larceny from a building, breaking glass in a building, breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, assault and battery, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and trespassing, according to the court clerk's office.

McDonough had recently been employed at Flexcon but lost his job on May 25, according to a narrative filed in court by Spencer police officers. Court filings do not say why McDonough lost his position.

McDonough is the son of Neil McDonough, Flexcon's president and CEO.

On Friday at 10:22 a.m., officers responded to Flexcon, where they were told that McDonough had removed five years of financial information from his father's office, which he had threatened to share with competitors and suppliers, members of senior management told police.

Police could not immediately locate McDonough, but the police report filed by Officer David Sullivan with the court says McDonough returned to the business at 11:40 a.m. and allegedly ran into the foyer and smashed a glass security door with a sledge hammer.

McDonough faced Sullivan and assumed a "fighting stance," according to the report.

Sullivan struck him on the thigh with his baton and McDonough grabbed him around his waist near Sullivan's firearm. The officer wrestled McDonough to the ground and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray and handcuffed him, the report states.

Neil McDonough posted his son's $1,000 bail, according to court documents. He is scheduled to be back in court on July 19. A judge ordered that McDonough undergo a mental evaluation, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
