Short Funding Postpones PLC Trial
Franklin-based PLC Systems Inc. says it will postpone the U.S. trial of its RenalGuard system because the company doesn't have the money to complete it.
The company said it has the money to begin the trial, but must still raise the money necessary to see the trial through. The RenalGuard system is currently undergoing trials in Italy. The system had a limited market launch in Europe during the first quarter.
The company said it would commence U.S. trials upon receiving "positive clinical data" from the Italian trial. The postponement is expected to limit the company's expected research budget increase for the remainder of the year.
The RenalGuard system is said to reduce the toxic effects radiographic imaging can have on the kidneys of patients undergoing cardiovascular and diagnostic imaging procedures.
