State Puts $177K Into Cultural Organizations

Nine organizations, including the EcoTarium in Worcester and the New England Center for the Performing Arts Inc. in Franklin, will receive grants from MassDevelopment and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

In all, the two agencies will award $177,375 in feasibility and technical assistance grants. The grants will support the efforts of cultural organizations to increase tourism, create jobs and secure private funding.

MassDevelopment and the cultural council are making the grants through the state's Cultural Facilities Fund, which has invested $37 million in cultural organizations since 2007.

The EcoTarium in Worcester and the New England Center for the Performing Arts will each receive $18,750 in the latest round of awards.
