Taking The Temp Of Temp Hiring

Worldwide, most employers don't see contingent workers as a key to their organization's staffing strategy, but 57 percent of U.S. firms do, according to a new survey by temporary staffing firm Manpower.

The survey found that 34 percent of firms worldwide place a high degree of importance on hiring temporary workers. In the Americas, the percent stands at 48 percent, compared with 33 percent in the Asia-Pacific region and 23 percent in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In Japan, 73 percent of respondents said temp workers were important to their business, while in India no company said they were.

Employers said they were most likely to use contingent labor to complete work during peak seasons.
