The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts has elected three doctors to its board of directors: Lisa R. Fortuna, Jay S. Himmelstein and Michael J. Mutchler.
The Health Foundation is dedicated to improving the health of Central Massachusetts residents, particularly vulnerable populations and people with unmet needs. It has assets of about $50 million and has made grants totaling over $16 million since 2000.
Fortuna is an assistant professor of psychiatry and director of child and adolescent multicultural health research at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Himmelstein is a professor of family medicine and community health and chief health policy strategist for the Center for Health Policy and Research at the medical school. Mutchler is a Gardner family practice physician.
The new directors will serve for three-year terms.
