Unum Gets New UK Exec

Disability and life insurer Unum Group, which has major operations in Worcester, announced that Jack McGarry has been promoted to president and CEO of Unum UK.
McGarry previously served as the senior vice president of benefits and risk management. He is taking over from Susan Ring, who is stepping down from the CEO role in the United Kingdom.
McGarry joined the Chattanooga, Tenn.-based company in 1986 and has held a number of posts within finance, underwriting and benefit operations. He has a degree in mathematics from the University of Vermont.
Ring is expected to stay on with Unum through February 2011 in an advisory role.
