U.S. Productivity Increases In Q4

Productivity increased at a 6.2 percent annual rate during the fourth quarter of 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The gain is the result of an increase of 7.2 percent in output and 1.0 percent in hours worked.

The increase was the first quarterly increase in hours worked since the second quarter of 2007. Productivity increased 5.1 percent over the last four quarters.
