Venturing Into Renewable Energy

Nationwide venture capital investment in renewable energy totaled $3.4 billion last year, up 50 percent from 2006, according to Cambridge-based research company Greentech Media Inc.
Venture capitalist's invested in solar energy at the highest rate, pumping more than $1.05 billion into the industry in more than 70 financing rounds, the company reported. There were more than 220 funding rounds in renewable energy altogether.
Recent heavy investment in the sector has led many investors to think they will recoup their investments between 2008 and 2010, Greentech said.
