Worcester Attorney Nominated As Accident Judge

Gov. Deval Patrick nominated three lawyers, including one from Worcester, to the state's Industrial Accident Board.

Worcester sole practitioner Paul F. Benoit was nominated to be an administrative judge on the board along with Emily J. Novick of Brookline. Patrick nominated Catherine Watson Koziol of West Springfield, currently an administrative judge in the Worcester regional office of the Department of Industrial Accidents, to be an administrative law judge on the board.

Benoit has represented both plaintiffs and insurers in worker compensation and personal injury cases. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and was deputy provost marshal in the Army.

The Industrial Accident Board presides over administrative hearings involving workers' compensation claims. The three nominees must be approved by the governor's council.
