YWCA Lands $343K State Grant

The YWCA of Central Massachusetts has been awarded a $343,905 grant from the state's Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund.

The grant will help the Worcester-based YWCA develop a pool of qualified early childhood teachers by working with local high school students interested in pursuing college degrees in early childhood education and related fields. The program will point those students toward jobs with several local early childhood education providers.

The YWCA grant is one of five, most in metro Boston, awarded by the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The grants were worth between $50,000 and $499,991.

The programs to receive the grants are aimed primarily at low-wage workers, older workers, youth and the unemployed.
