Becker College President Kenneth Zirkle has resigned in order to take a job as president of Post University in Waterbury, Conn.
Zirkle's resignation is effective Sept. 1 and he is expected to begin as president of Post this fall.
Zirkle has been president Worcester-based Becker College for nearly five years. In that time, enrollment has increased from 1,000 to 1,600, according to the school's board of trustees. Also during Zirkle's tenure, the school its bachelor's in nursing program and expanded its accelerated learning to an office in Southborough. The school also has a campus in Leicester.
Also during Zirkle's tenure, the school established football and ice hockey programs and built a new residence hall and an athletic field scheduled to open this fall.
John Prosser, chairman of the school's board of directors will lead the school until an interim president is appointed.
