Through his work with SBH and ABI-LAB, Nir provides a number of important resources to biotech companies working on big breakthroughs.
A contract research organization, SBH has worked with more than 50 biotech firms, assisting with preclinical research focused primarily on anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory drug development. The firm played a role in developing Xpovio, a drug treating a rare form of cancer called multiple myeloma.
Of course, all science needs a physical space to happen in, and that's where ABI-LAB’s rentable lab space comes into the picture. Located in an area of Natick best known for its retail shopping, ABI-LAB’s opened a third building to meet growing demand in March, helping further diversify the town’s economy in the process.
Since opening its first building in 2016, ABI-LAB tenants have raised more than $3.3 billion in early-stage and late-stage funding, bringing 400 jobs to Natick in the process. The space, which allows firms to tap into Massachusetts’ talent without paying Boston-area rents, has attracted interest from firms all over the world, with 20% of its tenants being international companies who use the space as their U.S. headquarters.
