Acclaim Health Care Gets $100K State Loan

A Worcester-based health care organization has received a $100,000 loan from a newly formed state agency that aims to provide support for women and minority-owned small businesses.

Acclaim Home Health Care Inc. will use the money to support the 30 clinicians it already employs and to possibly hire additional peronnel. The organization serves about 1,000 patients in nursing care, therapies and personal care.

In August, Gov. Deval Patrick created the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corp. by combining the Community Development Finance Corp. and the Economic Stabilization Trust. The new organization is focused on promoting economic development in gateway communities and in low and moderate income areas, as well as supporting women and minority-owned small businesses.

Patrick funded the organization with a $20 million capital bond and with $15 million from the MssDevelopment Emerging Technologies Fund.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Acclaim employs physicians. It does not. It will use the funding to support existing clinicans that work for the agency.
