Ameresco takes on smart metering project in Texas

Framingham renewable energy company Ameresco announced on Monday it has formed a partnership with the City of Bellmead, Texas, where it will lead on a smart metering infrastructure improvement project project.
The project, according to a press release, includes installing solid-state water meters and an advanced metering infrastructure system, including replacing 3,797 water meters throughout the city. Ameresco didn't provide the exact dollar amount of the deal.
Once complete, city officials will be able to more accurately measure metered water consumption and potential increases in water and sewer billing revenues, according to Ameresco.
Project construction is scheduled to begin early next year.
