Attorneys beef up their asking price

According to a survey from the National Law Journal, attorney billing rates increased dramatically in 2007.

About three-quarters of the law firms surveyed said that they had boosted the amounts they charged for partner and associate services. Firm-wide, billing rates climbed by an average of 7.7 percent.

Despite grousing from clients, this year saw less rate increases than 2006. That year, almost 80 percent of firms surveyed jacked up prices for services rendered.
