Sturbridge Orthodontics has been acquired by Corus Orthodontists, a firm based in Toronto expanding its operations into the United States.

Led by Ferdinand Sabelis, a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Sturbridge Orthodontics serves patients in Sturbridge, Southbridge, Holland, Wales, Brimfield, West Brookfield, Brookfield, East Brookfield, Charlton, Dudley, Spencer, and nearby communities in Connecticut. The office was acquired as part of Corus’ strategy to grow via acquisitions.

“Joining Corus allows us to continue delivering exceptional care while gaining the benefits of centralized support, collaboration, and innovation,” Sabelis said in a Wednesday press release announcing the deal. “Being part of this doctor-led network enhances our ability to serve our patients and communities for many more years to come.”

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Sabelis is a member of the National Dental Honor Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Worcester District Dental Society, among other organizations.

Corus Orthodontists was founded in 2019 by a group of 18 orthodontists across North America, according to its website. Its network now encompasses more than 55 practices and 65 doctor-partners across 75 locations in the United States and Canada.

Eric Casey is the managing editor at Worcester Business Journal, who primarily covers the manufacturing and real estate industries.
