BJ's CEO resigns

BJ's Wholesale Club CEO Mike Wedge announced his resignation from the Natick firm, with the company citing insufficient progress as a key reason for the management change.

Wedge has been in the role since 2002, and will be replaced by interim CEO Herb Zarkin while the board of directors searches for a replacement.  In a joint statement read by Zarkin and Wedge, the company felt "overall progress has not come as quickly as we had hoped for and expected.  We agree that the company's leadership team will benefit from a fresh perspective at this time."

Previously, Wedge served as executive vice president, club operations for BJ's and vice president, sales operations of the BJ's Wholesale Club division of Waban, Inc.
