Natick-based BJ's Wholesale Club released its sales results for November of 2006, noting a 4.9 percent increase in sales compared to the same time last year.
November sales hit $652.5 million, up from $621.8 million recorded in 2005. The company also noted that its comparable club sales rose 0.6 percent for the month, including a negative impact from gasoline sales. Excluding gasoline sales, comparable club sales rose 1.9 percent in the month of November. Last year, the company recorded a comparable club sales increase of 1.8 percent, plus a positive impact from gasoline sales of 1.2 percent.
Sales increases were noted in weeks one and four, helped largely by strong sales on Black Friday and incremental sales on Thanksgiving Day, as most clubs opened for partial hours. No stores were open on Thanksgiving of 2005. Sales decreased in weeks two and three of November.
Last week, BJ's Wholesale Club CEO Mike Wedge resigned. Read more about it by clicking here.
