The Overlook, a senior care facility, has transitioned its home health, hospice and palliative care services to one of its Central Massachusetts care system subsidiaries as the Charlton-based operation aims to refocus its core offerings at its flagship location.
The Overlook offloaded its home health, hospice and palliative care offerings provided through its Visiting Nurse Association to Gardner-based Care Central VNA & Hospice, effective Thursday.
“For more than 25 years, OVNA has been privileged to care for thousands of residents/patients, providing comfort, dignity, and support in their homes,” Tameryn Campbell, president and CEO of The Overlook, said in a Thursday press release. “We are heartened to find a mission-minded, non-profit organization in Care Central VNA & Hospice.”
The collaborative agreement comes as The Overlook looks to reorient its mission to focus on senior living. The facility, which will reopen in September, will provide services including independent living, health care services, and post acute short term rehabilitation, according to the release.
Having been in business since 1911, The Outlook had been providing home health, hospice and palliative care services for more than 25 years.
With onboarding efforts already in place, The Overlook says many patients will continue to see the same clinicians and support staff after transitioning to Care Central.
“Our foremost priority throughout this transition is to ensure patients and families continue to receive uninterrupted, high-quality care,” Holly Chaffee, president and CEO of Care Central, said in the release. “We are also proud to welcome members of the Overlook team who share our commitment to compassionate, community-focused care.”
The transition of care will increase The Overlook’s overall service footprint to 128 towns.
