Cognex To Track Japanese Engine Parts

Cognex Corp. of Natick said it has received more than $300,000 in orders for parts-tracking equipment from a major automaker.

According to the company, a Japanese auto manufacturer has purchased Cognex In-Sight ID readers for an engine assembly plant in the United States. The initial order totals $300,000 and Cognex expects the manufacturer to make additional orders in the near future.

The In-Sight system will be used to track engine parts from machining to final assembly.

Cognex did not specifically identify the manufacturer. Japan's three largest auto manufacturers, Toyota, Honda and Nissan, all have engine manufacturing plants in the United States.
