Forbes.com has named the Worcester Polytechnic Institute one of the "Top Colleges for Getting Rich."
WPI is tied for the ninth position in the Forbes ranking with the Polytechnic Institute of New York, Brooklyn. Other New England schools in the top 10 are Dartmouth College (No.1), Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (tied for fourth) and Harvard (No. 6).
Forbes based the ranking on the salaries of recent graduates and those with between 10 and 20 years of work experience. The salaries of WPI grads with five or fewer years of work experience averaged $61,000. Those with between 10 and 20 years of work experience made a median of $114,000. The median top salary for WPI grads was $180,000.
The school said the top recruiters of WPI graduates include Raytheon, United Technologies Corp., GE, EMC Corp. and others.
