Engage and overcome

A recent survey found that 81 percent of HR professionals believe employee recognition and engagement programs are integral to recruiting top talent, while 84 percent of those surveyed said such programs help improve a company's bottom line.

The survey was conducted by Southborough and Dublin, Ireland-based employee recognition company Globoforce, and solicited opinions from 70 HR executives from Fortune 500 companies.

HR professionals said that formal employee engagement programs help companies differentiate and distance themselves from competition.

The survey also revealed that fallout from disengaged employees leads to poor work quality and decreased productivity.
