Expand Mass. bottle law? Slight majority says ‘yes’

It’s an effort that, despite several setbacks, seems to persist, as bottle bill advocates push again to expand the state’s current law to include bottled water and sports drinks. The Legislature appears to be deadlocked over whether to support an expansion. And the issue could go before voters in November as backers of an expansion face a July 2 deadline to gather enough signatures to place a referendum on the fall ballot.
