Extra Week Boosts Times Co.'s November

The New York Times Co. , parent of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and the Boston Globe, said November total company revenues from continuing operations rose 1.7 percent compared with November last year.

Advertising revenues decreased 0.2 percent and circulation revenues increased 3.7 percent, the company said. Advertising revenue for the  company's About Group (about.com) was up 23.7 for the month.

November's advertising results benefited from a shift in the company's fiscal calendar. In 2006 the fiscal month ended Nov. 26 while in 2007 it ended Dec. 2, adding an extra "holiday season" week to the month.
