First-Time Jobless Claims Fall By 10K

In the week ending May 29, 453,000 Americans filed claims for unemployment insurance coverage for the first time, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

That's a decrease of 10,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 463,000. The 4-week moving average was 459,000, an increase of 1,750 from the previous week.

The insured unemployment rate was 3.6 percent for the week ending May 22, unchanged from the prior week.
