The North Central Massachusetts Development Corp. on Wednesday announced it had approved a $35,000 loan to the owners of Black Hydra Tattoo in Fitchburg: Emily Shortsleeves, Matt Gallagher, and Brad Touchette.

NCMDC’s loan assisted Black Hydra Tattoo with startup costs for launching the business, and created five full-time positions. With the addition of Fitchburg nonprofit NewVue Communities, assistance was given to the trio on their business plan and projections upon launching.

The tattoo parlor offers a modern approach of full-service body art destination, and high-end original artistry. The studio holds individual stations for each tattoo artist and piercer, with each owner having more than 10 years of experience.

A U.S. Small Business Administration microloan lender, NCMDC provides loans to small businesses of up to $150,000 for working capital, positions, equipment, inventory, expansion and relations to their banking partners to provide gap financing for ultimate projects. It is the financing arm of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce.
