Grillo will cover the real estate and manufacturing industries in his role as a reporter for the WBJ newsroom. In his previous reporting roles, Grillo wrote about real estate and edited the BBJ’s real estate enewsletter.

“It is an absolute honor to have a journalist of Thomas’ caliber join the WBJ newsroom,” said WBJ Editor Brad Kane. “He has a history of breaking major news and writing in-depth articles on complex topics, and the WBJ audience will be better served with Thomas on our staff.”

Grillo most recently worked for the Daily Item in Lynn where he wrote about the city’s revitalization efforts. He has won numerous awards in his career, including two recent ones from the New England Newspaper & Press Association, for a series on elder abuse and hunger.

In addition to covering the real estate and manufacturing beats, Grillo will serve as WBJ’s primary digital reporter, tasked with compiling and editing The WBJ Daily Report and the coordinating WBJ’s social media campaigns. Grillo replaces Zachary Comeau, who joined industry publication company Emerald Expositions in Framingham.

Grillo is a graduate of Boston University and lives in Southborough.
