Framingham firm to protect ID of veterans

Identity Force, a Framingham-based provider of identity theft software, was contracted by the Office of the General Counsel for Veterans Affairs to provide identity theft protection services to over 5,700 citizens.

Earlier this year, the Office suffered a security breach and released the personal data of over 26 million veterans when a laptop and external drive went missing.  The contract is an opt-in program, providing services to members such as alerts to changes to credit reports, on-demand personal access to credit reports and scores, $20,000 identity theft insurance policy and other services.

The financial value of the contract will be determined by how many participants enroll in the program.
