A 1,300-member union of hospital cleaners and technicians at UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester will vote on a tentative contract agreement Wednesday that could end four months of negotiations.
According to a statement from Patricia Webb, senior vice president and chief human resource officer for the hospital, wage increases remained a sticking point in negotiations, but a tentative agreement was reached Friday.
The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1445 rejected the hospital's previous final offer in late May and authorized the union to go on strike. The strike has not yet been planned, however. An independent mediator has been brought in to help resolve the issues.
Douglas Belanger, vice president and business agent for the health care division of the UFCW Local 1445, confirmed that a vote would take place on Wednesday.
