IDC names new research exec

Framingham-based IDC announced this morning that a former Boston University and Harvard professor would take over as the company's research vice president.

Steve Conway has been a consultant for IDC since 1999, and has co-authored IDC studies and reports. He'll report to Earl Joseph II, IDC's technical computing systems vice president.

Conway was previously vice president for corporate communications and investor relations for Cary Inc. He also headed corporate communications for Cary Research and CompuServe Corp.

IDC provides advisory services for the information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets, and helps businesses, investors and consumers make decisions regarding technology.

The company is a subsidiary of IDG, the a technology media, research and events company.

Conway is also a former Senior Fulbright Fellow, and spent 12 years in teaching and administration at Boston University and Harvard. He holds degrees in German and Comparative Literature.
