Brian Westerlind has taken on the role of leading Webster Five bank, following the July 1 retirement of President & CEO Don Doyle.
Westerlind’s succession of Doyle, first announced in June 2024, sees the Worcester native take on the role of president & CEO after having joined Webster Five in 2010 as CFO.
“I’m honored to lead Webster Five into its next chapter,” Westerlind said in a July 9 press release. “This Bank has a legacy of exceptional personal service, financial strength and community support, and I’m excited to continue that tradition while looking ahead to new opportunities for growth and impact.”
Westerlind serves on the boards of the nonprofit Worcester Community Action Council and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Providence College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, according to his LinkedIn profile. Westerlind was a member of the WBJ 40 Under Forty Class of 2015.
Doyle retires from Webster Five after having spent 20 years at the bank, with nine of those years at the firm’s leader.
Founded in 1868 and headquartered in Auburn, Webster Five is 13th largest bank in Central Massachusetts when ranked by local deposits, with $968.3 million in local deposits and $1.3 billion in total assets, according to information provided to the WBJ Research Department. Webster Five has branches in Worcester, Auburn, Dudley, Oxford, Shrewsbury, and Webster.
