SimpleHome of Westborough, which sells entertainment, "smart home" and building automation products, has tapped Jane Scammon to develop new relationships for the company. With more than 15 years in the industry, most recently at a Dorchester appliance company, Scammon has experience working with luxury clientele, designers, architects and builders. In this Q&A she talks about what's new and what's familiar about her new gig.

Q. How are you settling in at your new office?
A. It's very exciting; very nice people here, but there's lots to learn!
Q. What's the biggest surprise you've had in starting the job?
A. Day two: Travel to Atlanta!
Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. Learning the intricacies of the technology.
Q. How different is this job from your previous position?
A. Not much. The clientele is the same; the products have changed.
Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up doing?
A. When I was in high school I thought I would be a teacher. But honestly, what I do now is really about educating both the consumers and the trade, and helping them find the best products for the task.
Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. Well, Panera is right down the street...so is a cute Japanese restaurant!
Q. What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
A. Much the same thing. I love working with the design/build trade. I am good at solving problems and seeing to it that the end user and all the trade affiliates are pleased at completion of the project.
