Nine of the state's 12 labor markets added jobs in September, but it wasn't enough to put a dent in the state's unemployment rate, which increased to 9.3 percent, according to the state Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
The Worcester area, along with the Leominster-Fitchburg-Gardner area saw job growth between August and September of 1.3 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively.
The Framingham area's job situation was flat during the month.
But unemployment rates were higher in all the state's labor markets. The Worcester market's rate inched up from 9.4 percent in August to 9.7 percent in September. Framingham's rate went from 7.3 percent to 7.6 percent and the Leominster-Fitchburg-Gardner area's rate increased from 11.8 percent to 12 percent.
The statewide unemployment rate increased from 9.1 percent in August to 9.3 percent in September. The state labor office reported 9,200 job losses between August and September.
