Dear Editor,
I am writing in response to your article entitled, "Rovezzi Rings Dinner Bell for Taxman" (WBJ, Feb. 4, 2008) and the description of Rewards Network within, which contained serious inaccuracies about our business.
Rewards Network is a leading provider of dining award programs across North America. With 24 years of experience, Rewards Network offers a variety of products and services, including access to capital.
Rewards Network often works with restaurants, bars and clubs by buying future dining experiences in advance, and then markets these participating businesses to our members. Rewards Network only gets paid when our members dine, so we have a vested interest in our participating restaurants' success. In short, contrary to what was implied by Mr. Rovezzi's comments and your article, we do not provide "loans" to restaurants.
Restaurants join our network for a variety of reasons, including access to our 3 million active members across the United States and Canada who can earn "CashBack Rewards," airline miles or even college savings, or points by dining at our participating restaurants.
Through our member surveys, we provide direct customer feedback to the restaurants, including comments about the food, service, cleanliness, value and their overall experience at the restaurant. This feedback provides timely and valuable insight into how a restaurant's guests feel about their dining experience.
Finally, our participating restaurants also use our "dining credits" product to provide working capital to maintain daily operations, pay for improvements or even to manage cash flow in slow periods.
We regret Mr. Rovezzi's careless comments made in the context of his federal and state tax problems, which were reported by your newspaper. We invite the readers of the Worcester Business Journal to learn more about the value that Rewards Network can provide to both diners and restaurants by accessing our web site at www.rewardsnetwork.com.

Chief marketing officer,
