Lever of North Adams announced 13 finalists, including three from Central Massachusetts, for the first round of its COVID-19 Intrapreneur Challenge on Tuesday.

The business accelerator challenge was designed to increase the number of in-state companies able to manufacture personal protective equipment in light of the coronavirus pandemic by helping participating companies pivot their production operations. The first challenge focuses on manufacturing non-medical masks.

Finalists for the first round include Peter Berzin of Contollo Mass Manufacturing in Franklin, Thomas Kennedy of Industrial Polymers and Chemicals Inc. of Shrewsbury and George Robert of Coverall in Worcester.

The other finalists are Vincent Brancaccio of Dra-Cor Industries Inc. in Brockton, Sue Chouinard of Dartmouth Tailoring Studio in Dartmouth, Kim Clark of National Fiber Technology, LLC in Lawrence, Diana Coluntino of UML Innovation Hub in Lowell, Tse-Ming Hsin of Advanced Biomedical Materials Inc. in Westford, Tracy Lehnen of Charles River Apparel in Sharon, Josh Levin of LympheDIVAs in Pittsfield, Margaret Reilly of Eileen Steward Clothing in Plymouth, Bethany Salvon of Speakeasy Travel Supply in Centerville and Aurelie Steere of CABBAG in Boston.

The Intrapreneur Challenges are funded by the Innovation Institute at MassTech, that group that manages the Massachusetts Manufacturing Emergency Response Team. Finalists for the second challenge, which focuses on producing products or developing services in support of Phase Two of the state’s reopening plan, are expected to be chosen by Friday.
