Massachusetts received a high ranking from a stimulus-tracking website for efforts to efficiently spend federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars.
Massachusetts ranked second in the silver category behind Connecticut for having the highest percentage of stimulus projects awarded to contractors, a Seattle-based website tracking service Onvia said.
Massachusetts has awarded 36.5 percent of its projects to contractors. Connecticut has awarded 37.7 percent of its projects to contractors. Onvia runs the www.Recovery.org website, which aims to provide transparency in tracking recovery funds.
The website listed four states in the top-rated gold category, including Alaska, North Dakota, Wyoming and New Hampshire.
The ranking takes into account the amount of per-capita stimulus funding the state has received and how quickly it has been distributed. Virginia, Ohio, Georgia, Missouri and Nevada placed in the bottom-ranked "laggard" category.
