Movers & Shakers from the April 11, 2011 issue

 

The College of the Holy Cross has hired former Massachusetts state senator EDWARD AUGUSTUS to head up its new office of government and community relations. Augustus, of Worcester, has a bachelor’s in government and history from Suffolk University, Boston, and a master’s in government from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland. He previously managed the 2010 re-election campaign of U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass.

 

Baystate Financial Services has promoted financial planners MARTHA PAYNE and ANDREW WARD to senior financial planners. Payne joined Baystate Financial Services in 2003. She previously worked at the Wall Street Journal and is a graduate of Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Ward joined Baystate in 2008. He previously was affiliated with New England Financial, Fidelity Investments, and the Bulfinch Group and is a graduate of Bentley College in Waltham.

MARIA MILLIKIN of Groton has joined Murphy Insurance Agency as a sales executive based out of the agency’s Groton office.  She previously held positions at Willis Group and Liberty Mutual, and has a bachelor’s degree from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. She is a member of the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Westborough-based Conservation Services Group has promoted VANESSA A. RICHTER to Southwest regional vice president. She joined CSG in 2008 and was previously director of land development at NRG Development LLC, in Fort Myers, Fla. A former senior airman in the Arizona National Guard, Richter has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona. 

Worcester-based child and family service agency Children’s Friend Inc. has elected KRISTINE K. BOSTEK as chair of the board of directors. Bostek is the associate chief operation officer at Private Sector Partners Inc. of Worcester. Other newly elected officers are: DAVID H. WHITE, first vice-chair; ROBERT G. ORIOL, second vice-chair; MICHAEL F. FOLEY, treasurer; LISA N. BANKS, clerk; the Rev. GEORGE E. VOGEL, assistant clerk; and DOROTHY A. DUDLEY, executive committee member at large. Five directors were elected: CHRISTINA ALAVIAN; ELLEN M. CUMMINGS; PETER DUPELL; LENE ARNETT JENSEN; and JENNIFER MACDONALD.

MARY F. TEST of Hopedale has been promoted to TD Bank store manager at East Main Street, Milford. She started as a teller at TD Bank in 2000 and previously served as assistant store manager at TD Bank. She is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island and Framingham State University.

Southbridge Savings Bank has promoted CARON J. DOOLEY of Worcester and SHEILA M. VEIDEMAN of Auburn to assistant vice president regional branch managers. Dooley has been at the bank’s Holden location for seven years. Veideman will relocate to the bank’s North Oxford branch. Most recently she was assistant vice president senior branch manager in Worcester.

Anna Maria College in Paxton has hired BILLYE W. AUCLAIR as vice president for academic affairs. Auclair will begin her new post in July. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in genetics from the University of New Hampshire and a doctorate in veterinary and animal sciences from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She previously served as the vice president for academic affairs at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Conn.

KENNETH SANGINARIO, a principal of Westborough-based NorthStar Management Partners, has been named to the board of directors at Solutions at Work, a Cambridge-based nonprofit that helps fight poverty and homelessness by promoting self-reliance. NorthStar specializes in corporate revitalization and insolvency financial planning.

Marlborough-based Blue Cod Technologies Inc. has appointed ROBERT BRUCE as president and chief operating officer. Bruce has served on Blue Cod Technologies’ board of directors since 2009. He was previously the founder and president of ClayPoint Inc., a consulting firm, and before that, president of Fiserv Property & Casualty Solutions, a provider of software applications to the insurance industry.

BRIEN MAGINNIS of Sagamore has joined Framingham Cooperative Bank as vice president/controller. Maginnis most recently served as vice president of finance for Commonwealth Cooperative Bank in Hyde Park, and was previously assistant vice president and operations manager with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Maryland College.

Hudson-based Yates Law Offices has hired NELSON LUZ SANTOS as an attorney specializing in civil litigation and immigration. He will also assist with consumer protection, estate planning and real estate cases. Santos earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and his law degree from Massachusetts School of Law in Andover.
