New Evergreen Solar Contracts Worth $1B

Evergreen Solar Inc. of Marlborough recently signed two new long-term sales contracts worth about $1 billion.

The company said it has agreed to supply about $750 million in solar panels to German solar power company Ralos Vetriebs GmbH between 2008 and 2013. The company also recently signed a smaller agreement with a U.S.-based installer.

Evergreen will manufacture the panels for the two new contracts at its Devens facility, starting production in July.

Evergreen said it already has six customer contracts, with a total current backlog of about $850 million. Most of that will be supplied by Evergreen's German joint venture EverQ.
