NORESCO, an energy services firm specializing in energy and environmental efficiency projects, has been awarded two contracts worth $46.4 million from the Baltimore City Public School System (BCPSS).
BCPSS chose NORESCO to implement energy and facility upgrades totaling $26.8 million, and also awarded a second contract to provide on-site operational maintenance at school system buildings for 15 years.
The contract calls for upgrades at 19 school and administrative facilities. The average age of building stock is 46 years, with deferred maintenance costs of more than $1 billion. Westboro-based NORESCO will help to create energy savings through the implementation of energy-efficient lighting systems and improved energy management systems.
The anticipated savings from the cost-reduction solutions will help to fund overall improvements in the energy and building infrastructure.
