Providence Bruins head to Marlborough for 2020-21 season

American Hockey League minor league team the Providence Bruins will play its 2020-21 season at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough while its home rink, the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, is used for COVID-19 response, the organization announced on Monday.

The season will be abbreviated, slated to begin in February and end in May, with final details not yet announced. No fans will be attending the games, according to the announcement.

“The Boston-Providence partnership is very strong, and we are playing this season to support the Bruins as they play for a Stanley Cup,” said Larue Renfroe, owner and chairman of the Providence Bruins, in a statement.

The Dunkin’ center is being used as a COVID-19 testing center.
