Remodeling On The Rise
The market for new homes may not look inviting, but homeowners are working with what they already have, according to the Residential BuildFax Remodeling Index.
The national index, based on filings of local building permits, rose 15 percent year-over-year in April to a level of 109.7. That's the highest April reading since the index began in 2004, according to BuildFax, which is a division of BuilderRadius.
The index was also up 12 percent from March.
The Northeast region saw a 3.2 percent year-over-year increase and a 9.1 percent uptick from March.
