Rentschler Biopharma, a global contract development and manufacturing organization with offices in Germany and Milford, has named Christian Schetter as its new chief scientific officer, effective this past Wednesday, according to a Monday announcement.

The position will be based in Germany.

The last person to hold the CSO position was Stefan Schmidt, who left the company in 2018, according to his Linkedin.

Prior to joining Rentschler Biopharma, Schetter was managing director at Arix Bioscience in the United Kingdom, where he was in charge of investment decisions and scientific evaluations, also serving in support functions for portfolio companies, per Monday’s announcement.

Among other roles, Schetter also worked as CEO of Rigontec GmbH, which was acquired by Merck & Co., also known as MSD, in 2017, per Schetter’s Linkedin. Other companies he’s worked for in executive and senior positions include Coley Pharmaceutical Group, now Pfizer, and  Fresenius Biotech GmbH, now known as Neovii Biotech, among others.
