Retail Sales Up In November

Retail sales hit $352.1 billion in November, an increase of 1.3 percent from the previous month and 1.9 percent more than the same month a year ago, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Total sales for September through November were down 2.1 percent from the same period a year ago. For September and October, the percent change was revised down from an increase of 1.4 percent to 1.1 percent.

Retail trade sales were up 1.4 percent from October and 2.2 percent above last year. Building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers were down 9.3 percent from November 2008, but gasoline station sales were up 8.9 percent from last year.
