The Providence Journal is reporting that Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics will lay off 90 workers from its Bristol, R.I., plant and move their jobs to Mexico.

The French Compagnie Saint-Gobain's Saint-Gobain Abrasives division employs 1,500 people in Central Massachusetts.

According to the Journal, the company expects to make the cuts to its Bristol workforce over the next year and a half, and to move those jobs to Mexico in 2009. The Bristol plant employs 160.
