Schilling's game company appoints new prez

Curt Schilling has found a right hand man to manage his online gaming company while he focuses on pitching for the Boston Red Sox.

GMG (Green Monster Games) LLC, a Maynard-based company founded by Schilling to produce multiplayer online games, has appointed Brett Close as its president.

"My commitment right now must be on the field helping the Red Sox win another World Championship, and to do that to the best of my ability I need to know that the person in charge possesses the same thoughts, beliefs, integrity and accountability that I feel I do, and Brett does just that," Schilling, who is still the company's CEO, said in a written release.

Close has brought successful products to market for game developers like Midway, Electronic Arts and VR1 Entertainment.

In addition to bringing Close on board, a pair of new execs have also joined GMG, including Mary Kirchoff as senior vice president of marketing and brand development, and Chaz Sutherland as art director.
