Senate pushes for its transgender bill

It does not appear that lawmakers will be able to informally settle their differences over a bill ensuring public accommodations access for transgender individuals.

Both branches have approved transgender bills, with Gov. Charlie Baker saying he would sign the House bill. The Senate on Monday insisted on its version of the bill and appointed three members to serve on a conference committee charged with recommending details of a final bill.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. William Brownberger will lead the Senate conference, serving on it with Sens. Sonia Chang-Diaz, a Jamaica Plain Democrat, and Bruce Tarr, a Gloucester Republican.
